Our aim.
At Invent our aim is to help young people gain Social, Personal and Professional Skills and overcome barriers to education, employment and training. Invent staff are all qualified, experienced professionals who are dedicated to helping young people express themselves, gain qualifications and progress into positive outcomes.
We fully appreciate that every student is different. Therefore, each student will have access to our bespoke individual programme which includes, one to one review time with a Tutor to create their own ‘Personal Learning Plan’ which will evidence the student’s journey from start to completion!

Securing positive post 16 progressions is now more important than ever. Invent have a myriad of contacts involving post 16 education choices. The students will receive ‘impartial careers education’ through their journey with us. We have a Careers Advisor on site who will be leading the programme and ensuring students make informed decisions about their futures.
Maths and English Functional Skills:
Invent have English and Maths specialists on site. Invent Students will get the opportunity to study English and maths Functional Skills in ‘small groups’ and achieve qualifications under exam conditions.
Bike Repair Workshops:
At Invent we offer the opportunity to gain practical mechanical skills as well as increasing students’ teamwork and communication abilities. Furthermore, with the help of staff and volunteers at our purpose-built garage, students can choose to take their fully repaired and serviced bike away with them for free! Owning a bicycle provides an affordable and practical transport alternative, which allows people to access services and improves physical fitness and mental well-being.
Vocational Tasters:
Where possible we are dedicated to securing work experience placements for our students.
The placement can be close to the career they are interested in or a valuable opportunity to gain transferable skills such as customer service.
Employer Visits:
Where possible we will engage with local employers for students visits. This will help the students understand workplace rules and the dedication needed to be a good employee.
Employment Training:
This can involve how to search for a job in the digital world, ensuring they have an effective CV, how to properly complete College and Apprenticeship applications and online interviews.
Independent Living & Personal Development:
Our personalised Independent living and Personal Development course is designed to help each young person develop and demonstrate a range of skills through various activities, but also give them a better understanding of the skills they may need to succeed later in life either personally or in a work place environment.
PSHE:
At Invent all our tutors are experienced in delivering Life Skills subjects and recognise that the mental health of our young people is paramount. Students emotion management is a top priority for all the staff at the Centre. Sessions will include rights and responsibilities involving equality and diversity and safeguarding.
Digital Skills:
Digital skills will be embedded within all our lessons at the centre. Digital Skills help students to visualise their learning. We will also ensure students understand the importance of safety and security in the Digital World.
Professional Visits:
Networking with external professionals is vital to our work with young people. We Invite workers from all aspects of support services. If you are involved with any of our students in a caring capacity, please let us know and pop in for a cuppa and a chat. We also have a conference room for multi-agency meetings.
Food Preparation:
Invent have a student kitchen where students can learn to cook and learn about nutritional balance, which promotes learning and independent living skills. Cooking is also a great way of teaching young people about different cultures and cuisines and realising creativity and independence. Students can also gain a Food Safety Level 2 Certificate.
Hair and Beauty:
At Invent we have created our very own bespoke salon that is designed to be personal and flexible to support our students learning, the salon is big enough for up to three students per session so that each student gets enough time to work with our tutor to create and complete their own programme that is best suited to their learning needs.
